For Sale- Immaculate 1974 BMW 2002Tii.
This is a local two-owner San Diego, California car that has been lovingly cared for since new. The last owner owned the car for the past 15 years and has painstakenly restored the vehicle to be not only beautiful to look at, but also really fun to drive and enjoy!
It has an original 137,576 miles on chassis, however the complete powertrain including, engine,transmission, brakes, suspension systems have all been either replaced or rebuilt. In addition, the entire exterior has been restored by completely disassembling the entire vehicle and then stripping away the original Jade Green color and repainting entire vehicle Bmw Gray. All chrome was either polished or rechromed, all interior and exterior rubber moldings and seals were replaced. Also, the entire interior was removed and reconditioned. New black Recaro sport seats were installed, all door panels, rear quarter panels and rear seat were either replaced or reconditioned. New white headliner was installed. Also, a MOMO sport steering wheel, MOMO carbon fiber shifter knob and a carbon fiber instrument cluster display surround was installed. The combination of these improvements are spectacular.
ENGINE:
Engine is the original 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine that has been completely rebuilt less than 2,000 miles ago by Bavarian Rennsport. This work included new main bearings, rod bearings, pistons, rings, oil pump, timing chain, sprockets,gears tensioners and rails,replaced cylinder head with new intake and exhaust valves, valve guides, valve guide seals,rocker arms, rocker shafts,valve springs, ported cylinder head. It still retaines the original mechanical fuel injection and runs flawlessly. The original Tii distributor has been converted to a Pertonix electronic ignition, with Taylor Racing ignition wires and has a MSD 6A high energy system energizing the system for worry-free reliability and performance. A performance K&N air filter has been installed for better breathing, performance and sound. The engine compartment has been detailed, and new hood insulation and rear firewall insulation has been installed.
TRANSMISSION:
The original 4 speed transmission was replaced with a BMW 320I 5 speed transmission that has been completely rebuilt. At the same time a new clutch assembly was installed as well as a complete driveshaft assembly. The transmission shifts smoothly and the extra gear is really nice on long freeway drives.
SUSPENSION:
The complete suspension system has been enhanced by the following items: Bilstein Sport shocks have been installed on the rear with new Bilstein Sport complete strut assemblies installed on the front with new Eibach springs on all four corners. Front sway bar with urethane bushings and 3 way adjustable 19mm rear sway bar with urethane bushings. Front strut brace that has been color-coded to exterior paint color. Completely rebuilt front subframe that has had all of the bushings replaced, but has also had the steering box reinforcements added and has been completely powder-coated before being reinstalled. All new tie rods with tie rod ends, steering link and new close-ratio steering box fitted. Also, chassis stiffening gussets were welded onto front frame rails for added rigidity. New lower control arms and bushings with new ball joints. The result of all of this work is rewarded by incredibly responsive steering and ride quality, that is sporty but yet very comfortable to drive.
BRAKES:
The entire brake system has been rebuilt with new stainless steel brake lines, upgraded and rebuilt BMW 528I front brake calipers, new rear brake shoes, wheel cylinders and powder-coated color matched rear brake drums with a rebuilt brake master cylinder. The brakes on this car stop great with a firm high brake pedal that gives the driver a lot of confidence in braking.
EXTERIOR TRIM:
Car has been fitted with upgraded Bmw alloy 14 inch sport wheels that have been color-coded to exterior paint color
